Living up to Jeep's go-anywhere, do-anything spirit, the Jeep Renegade is one of the most reliable subcompact SUVs on the streets of Beaver Falls, Pittsburgh, Aliquippa, and Ellwood City today.

Still, life and the occasional repair happens. That's why Beaver County Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram created this Jeep Renegade dashboard light guide. Continue reading so you can always stay ahead of the curve and remain safe while on the road.

Jeep Renegade Dashboard Lights: The Basics

The easiest way to understand the symbols on your Renegade's dashboard is to think of it like a traffic light.

Green-colored lights appear whenever a normal vehicle function is in use. This includes features which range from your turn signal and cruise control to your Jeep's high beams. Green-colored lights typically shouldn't cause you any alarm.

What you do need to pay close attention to are yellow and red warning lights. These appear when an issue or serious malfunction is detected somewhere on your vehicle.

While it might be tempting to ignore, doing so increases your risk of a breakdown or an accident.

Jeep Renegade Warning Lights

Warning lights either appear yellow or red and indicate a serious issue has been detected inside your vehicle. A few of the more common lights you might encounter include:

Oil Pressure Warning Light - This symbol looks like a dripping oil can and appears when your engine's oil level dips below a safe level. You should immediately find a safe place to pull over to avoid overheating your engine.

Battery Charge Warning Light - This symbol looks like the top of a battery and appears when your vehicle's battery isn't regenerating. Should this light turn on while driving, do not turn off the engine until you reach a safe location. Immediately head to our service center to have it checked.

Malfunction Indicator Light - This is commonly known as the Check Engine Light and the symbol looks like the profile of an engine. It can indicate a wide range of issues stemming from your engine and transmission to the Renegade's exhaust system.

Tire Warning Light - This symbol looks like an exclamation point inside a horseshoe and appears when the PSI level in at least one of your tires is dangerously low. Should this symbol keep appearing, you most likely have a puncture or slow leak.

ABS Failure - This symbol, which looks like the letters ABS surrounded by a circle, appears when a system failure is detected. While still relatively safe to operate, avoid driving during slippery conditions until it's fixed.

Electronic Stability Program - This symbol looks like the backside of a car with two wavy lines underneath the tires. It appears when your traction control has either been turned off or when a malfunction has been detected.
